Objectives

To uphold the status of the Engineering and MIning profession, project its interest and provide for the mutual assistance of members.

To promote the general advancement of engineering and its particular application to the coal mining and associated industries nationally and internationally.

A national engineering skills survey will be launched on the 8th October 2013 to determine the extent of available engineering skills in South Africa. The survey initiated by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and supported by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and Economic Development Department (EDD) as well as engineering voluntary associations, aims to inform national engineering skills planning.

Data obtained through this survey will help build an updated picture of SA's available engineering skills, guide future action required to strengthen the profession’s skills pipeline as well as address needs voiced by the practitioners.
